Bula, I hope you are enjoying your Spring break! Things are going great in Fiji. After Introduction to Fijian was dropped, I found an interesting course called Social Field Work. This course details NGOs and governmental organizations that provide social resources. Along with being the capital of Fiji, Suva is the largest city between Australia and Los Angeles; therefore, there are a plethora of NGOs based here. As a part of the course, we are required to locate a volunteer position in an organization of our choice and complete 40 hours of service while analyzing and researching the organization. I am trying to work with the UNAIDS office to organize an internship as HIV/AIDS is an expanding threat in South Pacific. This week is my first rounds of tests and they are difficult. Going to Rotary meetings and outings is has been great. There are an interesting and friendly group of individuals. We had a sister club from Atlanta visit and our club hosted a dinner/cocktail night; it was great fun. I visited the Rotary International group at the local public hospital. They are installing a heart angiogram machine. It is quite impressive; this team self sustaining without contracting any work out. They are a friendly bunch from a cross section of Australia. I spent a day with them trying to help out (honestly I don't think I helped too much though). However, in response I was treated to an intriguing evening with them. Suva is such an interesting place; the atmosphere is very difficult to put into words. I really look forward to sharing my experiences with the Daybreakers. photos from Fiji at http://s731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/johnrobertson86/ John
