The Daybreak Rotary Club of Joplin
About Rotary...
The Daybreak Rotary Club of Joplin, sometimes called the "morning club" meets each Friday at 6:45 am at the Holiday Inn on South Rangeline. Get Directions
The club conducts many local projects and contributes through its local foundation to worthwhile causes. Club members ring Salvation Army bells, pick up trash in the Adopt-A-Park program, hold an annual reception for area international students and recruit for the Rotary organ and tissue donor program. Individual members are active in almost every humanitarian and civic activity in the Joplin area.
The primary purpose of Rotary membership is to provide each member a unique opportunity to serve others. The Rotary Club of Joplin is firmly committed to the motto of Rotary, "Service above Self."
Just a few Rotary Programs and Projects...
The Rotary 4-Way Speech Contest was established to encourage and foster high ethical standards in business and professions. High School students who participate in the speech contest are asked to apply the Rotary 4-Way Test to some aspect of their life. The Rotary 4-way test asks the following four questions: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? The contest is co-sponsored with the "Noon" Rotary Club of Joplin.
A large number of our current and former members, spouses and friends have become Paul Harris Fellows by contributing a minimum of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation. The foundation supports the humanitarian and educational programs of Rotary International. Many other members are moving toward becoming Paul Harris Fellows and are designated "sustaining members". Rotary International's most famous humanitarian program is Polio Plus which is Rotary's campaign in support of the global effort to eradicate Polio. By 2005 Rotary's contribution to the global polio eradication effort will be approximately a half billion dollars. Rotary International conducts many other humanitarian and educational activities. You may wish to visit www.rotary.org to learn more about these activities.
The Rotary District 6110 Medical Supplies Network, Inc. collects and ships medical equipment to countries throughout the world. The network sends an average of one shipment per month - everything from bandages to wheelchairs to x-ray equipment - from its warehouse in Tulsa, Oklahoma, resulting in an annual contribution in excess of one million dollars.
